Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program: T-VER
The “T-VER” project is a domestic greenhouse gas reduction mechanism that TGO has developed since 2014. Its full name is the Thailand Voluntary Emission Reduction Program, abbreviated as T-VER (pronounced Tee-ver). This mechanism aims to encourage all sectors to participate in reducing greenhouse gas emissions in the country, especially renewable energy producers and users, the industrial sector with energy efficiency improvement activities, waste management, which are the main target groups with the potential to reduce greenhouse gases, and management in the transportation sector, including tree planting and forest conservation and restoration, which are activities that not only help sequester greenhouse gases but also maintain and balance biodiversity.
TGO will be the one to register the T-VER project and certify the amount of greenhouse gases reduced or sequestered by the T-VER project. The amount of greenhouse gases reduced or sequestered is called “carbon credit”, which can be used for reporting. It can be used to offset greenhouse gas emissions from organizations, individuals, event organizing, and product manufacturing.
